Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By purchasing or using Coalstack ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms.

2. License Grant

The Software is free to download and use at the Free tier. Subscribing to PRO or MAX grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the additional features of that tier, tied to your account and a license key, for as long as your subscription remains active. The Software is licensed, not sold.

Canceling or lapsing a paid subscription reverts your account to the Free tier and disables the paid features gated behind PRO/MAX. It does not delete your account, saved servers, or any local data, all of which live on your own machine regardless of subscription status.

3. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, license key, and any device token issued to your desktop app confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account, including anything done by an admin you've invited to a server. You may delete your own account at any time from the Settings page, which permanently revokes any associated license, and you may revoke every device's login instantly from the Security page if you suspect a device token has been compromised.

3a. Conduit (Remote Management)

Conduit is an optional, opt-in feature that relays live status, console output, and player activity from a server you choose to enable it on, so you (and any admins you invite) can manage it remotely from a browser. It is off by default. Free-tier Conduit sessions are limited to 1 hour of continuous relay time per server, with a 1-hour cooldown after - PRO and MAX have no session limit. We may adjust connection limits or session rules by tier at any time; current limits are shown on the Conduit page. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what data this relays.

3b. Reviews

Submitting a review through your Account page must reflect your genuine experience with the Software - no fake, incentivized, or duplicate reviews, and no display name that's misleading, impersonates someone else, or contains slurs or profanity (display names are automatically checked for this). We may reject or remove any review at our discretion, including one that violates these Terms or applicable law. You can edit or withdraw your own review at any time from your Account page.

3c. Age Eligibility

You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age for consent in your region, if higher) to create an account, as verified by the date of birth collected at signup. See our Privacy Policy for details.

4. Acceptable Use

You may not redistribute, resell, share a license key across accounts, reverse-engineer for the purpose of removing license enforcement, or use the Software for unlawful purposes.

5. Server Content & Third-Party Mods

Coalstack is a management tool that runs on your own hardware - it does not host, review, or endorse any mod, plugin, modpack, or other content you choose to install on a server you manage through it. Mods and plugins are downloaded directly from their official sources (e.g. Modrinth, PaperMC, Mojang); Coalstack never hosts or redistributes third-party mod files itself.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and distribute any content you install, for complying with the license terms of every mod/plugin author, and for how you operate and monetize your own server, including compliance with Mojang's End User License Agreement and Minecraft Commercial Usage Guidelines.

6. No Warranty

The Software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

7. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coalstack shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Software, including but not limited to data loss or server downtime.

You agree to indemnify and hold Coalstack harmless from any claim arising from content you install, distribute, or monetize on a server you manage through the Software, or from your violation of any third party's rights or of Mojang's End User License Agreement.

9. Termination

We may revoke a license in cases of fraud, chargeback, or violation of these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada.
