Release notes

Changelog

Every release of the Coalstack desktop app, newest first. The same list is in the app under Settings → Changelog.

0.7.3Oct 20, 2026Latest

  • ImprovedLogging in to your account in the app now lets you use up to 10 PCs.

Using the license key alone stays at 3.

  • NewEach license key can now be used on up to 3 PCs.

See and remove your PCs on your account page at coalstack.net.

  • NewOn Bedrock, a /say message you send now shows in the console and chat.
  • ImprovedRedesigned Server Settings, Diagnostics, Whitelist & Bans, Admins, Port Forwarding, General and Integrations - cleaner cards, on/off switches and less text.
  • ImprovedRemoved the Switch game option. Pick Java or Bedrock when you create a server.
  • FixedA false "server stopped unexpectedly" alert could appear while a server was still starting.
  • FixedA port in use only on IPv6 is now caught before the server starts.

  • NewSafe server upgrade (Coalstack Plus)

Server Settings > Upgrade Minecraft Version. Move a Java server to a newer Minecraft version with your mods and plugins checked first, and a one-click undo.

  • ImprovedMessages for features that need a paid plan now point at Coalstack Plus, matching the rest of the app.
  • FixedAdding a server you already have now recognises NeoForge and Forge servers from Minecraft 1.17 on.

They have no server jar in their folder, so they were reported as unrecognised and could not be added.

  • FixedThe New Server wizard's NeoForge version list now shows the right Minecraft version for NeoForge's newer, year-based builds.
  • FixedAutomation rules with the Notify action now run for every trigger: a player joining or leaving, the server going empty or coming online, and a crash.
  • FixedAuto-fix's Undo now says so when a file is in use and cannot be reverted, instead of reporting the changes as undone.

  • NewNew Java servers are created with the whitelist off, so friends can join straight away.

Minecraft 26 turns it on by default, which made new servers refuse everyone. There is a checkbox in the New Server wizard if you do want it on.

  • NewWhen a player is turned away by the whitelist you get a notification naming them, with a pointer to Whitelist & Bans.

Turn the desktop toast on or off in Settings.

  • ImprovedA clearer message while a Coalstack domain waits for your server's address.
  • FixedLinux builds can now receive automatic updates, starting with the update after this one.

  • NewCoalstack domains

claim a yourname.coalstack.org address for a server from Networking, Custom Domain, Coalstack. It is off until you turn it on. You get one name during your free month of Plus, then one per relay connection. The name is a public address, so while your server runs it leads to your connection.

  • NewA security checklist on that tab flags settings that are risky once a server has a public address, like online mode off or no whitelist.
  • ImprovedA redesigned Conduit page on coalstack.net, and the Connections page now remembers a pending Stop or Restart for each server.
  • ImprovedThe Account page on coalstack.net shows which version your key updates to, and deleting an account now asks you to type Delete.

Headline feature

Servers that sleep until someone joins

Turn on wake on join and a stopped Java server starts the moment a player tries to connect, then goes back to sleep when it is empty.

  • Server-list refreshes never start it
  • Failed wakes retry, then notify you
  • Backups are now tested after every run
  • Warnings for sustained RAM and low disk
See all features →
  • NewBackup restore tests

every backup is read back in full and checked for a world before it is copied anywhere. A backup that fails is discarded and reported, instead of failing on the day you need it. Passing runs show "Restore test passed" in the backup history.

  • NewResource warnings

Coalstack warns you when a server's memory stays far above its RAM limit for several minutes, or when the drive it is on has under 2 GB free. Brief spikes never trigger it and the same warning repeats at most every 6 hours. They show in Notifications and as desktop notifications, on by default.

  • NewDiscord Rich Presence

show "Hosting your server" and the player count on your Discord profile while a server runs. Off by default; turn it on in Settings under Discord. It needs the Discord desktop app and never shares your server address.

  • ImprovedThe Backups page is tidier

the long explanations moved into hover tooltips.

  • ImprovedA redesigned Account page on coalstack.net with your plan and key in one place, and wider pages across the site.
  • FixedThe Send webhook automation action now works with Discord and Slack.

It used to send a format those services reject. It now sends a proper message, including the name of the player who joined, and a failed delivery shows up in Notifications.

  • SecurityThe Connections page hides a server's IP address behind asterisks (domains stay visible), and license keys show as asterisks until you reveal them.

Headline feature

Pay once, own it

No subscription for the app. Coalstack Plus unlocks every local feature for a major version.

  • $12.99 CAD once
  • Updates for the whole major version
  • Optional web relay plans
  • First relay month free

  • NewAuto-fix on launch

when a server crashes or won't start and Coalstack knows the cause, it offers the fix, restarts the server and checks it comes online. It covers a missing mod dependency, a client-only mod, a taken port, too little memory and an unaccepted EULA. You review every change first, removed mods are moved aside rather than deleted, and the whole round can be undone. Turn it to ask, automatic or off in Settings.

  • NewCheck for problems

a button on the Content tab. Coalstack looks through your mods folder for what it expects to break the server (a client-only mod, or a mod whose required mod isn't installed) and offers to fix it before anything crashes. It needs the server stopped and never starts it. The last result is kept and shown straight away while nothing about your mods or server has changed; Recheck runs it again.

  • NewWeb relay plans

control your servers from other devices and coalstack.net with 1, 4 or 8 connections and no session limit. Buying a key includes the first month of the 1-connection plan free. The Free tier is unchanged: 1 connection, 2 hours at a time.

  • ImprovedThe Browse Modrinth button now sits on the same line as the Mods title.
  • ImprovedMod compatibility checks now need Coalstack Plus.

Free users keep the Marketplace and the Auto Debugger.

  • ImprovedUpgrade prompts across the app now point at Coalstack Plus instead of PRO and MAX.
  • FixedCheck for problems no longer reports a required mod that another mod carries inside itself, such as JEI's mezz_config on NeoForge.

    Optional dependencies were already ignored.

  • FixedAuto-fix now handles Fabric mods running on NeoForge through Sinytra Connector.

Coalstack now identifies the mod that is asking by its file, so a renamed jar or a mod id that differs from its Modrinth name still finds the right download, and it uses Forgified Fabric API and Connector where Fabric API would be. A client-only mod that is asking for them is moved out rather than fed what it wants.

  • FixedAuto-fix no longer calls a current download "too old" when Modrinth's version number includes the Minecraft version or loader, and it prefers a release over a newer beta or alpha.
  • FixedClient-only mod detection matches whole words, so an unrelated mod with "iris" or "oculus" inside its name is no longer flagged.

Fabric mods that already declare themselves client-only are left alone, since Fabric skips them on a server.

  • SecurityLicense entitlements now record which major version a license covers, and the app only unlocks features for versions the license covers.

  • NewImport or reset a world

World & Files > Worlds. Coalstack backs the current world up first, swaps in the new one, and rolls back if anything goes wrong. Works for Java and Bedrock servers.

  • NewBedrock crossplay for Paper, Purpur and Spigot servers

Networking > Crossplay installs Geyser and Floodgate (checksum-verified) so Bedrock players can join your Java server, with Floodgate login already configured.

  • NewVelocity proxy networks

create a Velocity proxy in the New Server wizard, then link your Paper or Purpur servers to it under Networking > Network. Coalstack sets the forwarding secret, online-mode and ports for you.

  • ImprovedThe remote control panel on the website now explains that Bedrock has no ban command, and points to the allow-list instead.
  • FixedCreating a Paper server failed with "Failed to parse Paper builds" after PaperMC changed its download API.

Paper downloads work again, and Coalstack now prefers stable builds.

Headline feature

Bedrock Edition servers

Choose Bedrock in the New Server wizard and Coalstack downloads Mojang's own Bedrock Dedicated Server and sets it up. It sits in the same server list as your Java servers, on the same plans.

  • Start, stop, restart and a live console
  • Backups that don't pause the game for long
  • Allow-list and permissions editor
  • Server Properties and port forwarding (TCP plus a block of UDP ports)
  • Mods, plugins, the live map and the Playit tunnel stay Java-only.
Read the Bedrock guide →
  • NewRun a Bedrock server like any other

start, stop and restart it, watch the live console, see who is online, edit Server Properties, and manage the allow-list and permissions by gamertag (operator, member or visitor).

  • NewBedrock networking

port forwarding opens the server's TCP port and its block of UDP ports together, and the firewall rule covers both. Coalstack pins the UDP block so the forward and the rule always match, and a server on the default port shows up on your local network.

  • NewBedrock backups never pause the game for long

Coalstack asks the running server to hold its world still, copies exactly the files it lists, then lets it carry on. Restoring replaces the world inside the backup and points the server at it.

  • NewDesktop notifications

native alerts for server crashes and failed backups while Coalstack is in the background. On by default; pick which events under Notifications > Alerts, and send yourself a test.

  • NewA progress bar and step list when you create a server

the Java runtime or Bedrock download, the server jar and any loader installer are listed as they finish.

  • ImprovedMods, plugins, the live map and the Playit tunnel stay Java-only and are hidden for Bedrock servers instead of failing.

Bedrock has no ban command - to remove a player, take them off the allow-list.

  • ImprovedNavigation reorganized

per-server settings (rename, Conduit, templates, recipes, forget/delete) now live on the Server page under Server Settings, alerts and webhooks are under Notifications, and every page's tabs are all visible instead of hiding behind a More menu.

  • ImprovedRenamed tabs

World & Files has Server Properties and Icon & MOTD, Players has Admins and Invite Links, and the sidebar's Settings has General, Integrations and the Changelog.

  • FixedThe console no longer jumps back to the bottom while you are scrolled up reading it, and its text is a little smaller.
  • FixedVery long server names no longer push the window buttons off-screen, long folder paths no longer overflow cards and dialogs, and Forget/Delete no longer lands on a page that doesn't exist.

  • NewFree plans now get automated backups with one extra backup destination

a folder or Google Drive. PRO adds up to 3 (plus S3-compatible storage) and MAX is unlimited.

  • NewBackup history

every backup run is listed with a check or warning, and expands to show how each destination did. Failed automated backups now send a notification.

  • ImprovedThe Linux packages now install the helpers needed for website sign-in links to open the app.
  • FixedTurning on port forwarding on Windows no longer restarts Coalstack as administrator.

It now asks Windows for permission only for the firewall change - which also stops Windows Defender from mistaking Coalstack for malware.

  • NewQuilt support

create Quilt servers in the Setup Wizard, import Quilt modpacks, and browse mods in the Marketplace (Fabric mods work too).

  • NewDocker container mode now works with Forge and NeoForge servers.
  • ImprovedLinux now has an .rpm package for Fedora, alongside the .deb and AppImage.
  • SecurityStrengthened license-tier enforcement across the app.

  • NewConduit status in Settings

see at a glance whether a server is live-connected to the website, syncing in the background, or paused.

  • ImprovedConduit got a massive rework

commands sent from the website now reach your server almost instantly instead of waiting on the next check-in.

  • FixedSeveral Conduit fixes

the website now updates as soon as a server starts, and syncing no longer silently stops.

  • ImprovedAutomations page split into tabs (Rules, Scheduled Restarts, Announcements, Scheduled Commands, Fleet) instead of one long page - Create Rule now opens in its own modal.
  • ImprovedAnnouncements editor rebuilt

click a token like {player_count} to insert it at your cursor, Ctrl+Z to undo, and a live preview that only shows the delivery style(s) you actually selected instead of always showing both.

  • ImprovedScheduled Restarts now uses a slider (in hours) instead of a raw minutes field.
  • FixedA crash notification could fire the instant you clicked Start if the server failed to start (e.g.

a port already in use), even though nothing had actually crashed.

  • FixedThe crash notification banner's buttons could spill out past its own border on a longer error message.
  • FixedThe Create Rule modal's submit button could become unreachable on a smaller window - the form now scrolls instead of overflowing off-window.
  • Fixedplayit.gg tunnels could get stuck showing "Agent is offline" forever

Connect now starts the relay immediately instead of waiting for the next server start.

  • FixedGoogle Drive could show "connected" in the browser after signing in but never actually connect in the app - every Google API call now times out and reports a real error instead of hanging forever with no error at all.
  • FixedBackups could be attempted before the server had actually finished starting, when the world folder didn't exist yet.

  • NewImport Existing Server

point Coalstack at any Minecraft server folder you already have, no download or copy needed.

  • NewShareable Recipes

export a server's settings and Modrinth-sourced mods/plugins to a file, then apply it from the setup wizard when creating a new server.

  • NewWeekly plugin/mod update digest (PRO)

Marketplace re-checks installed mods/plugins against Modrinth once a week and has results ready on load.

  • NewPublic status widget (PRO)

an embeddable online/player-count badge for Discord or a forum, safe to share since it never exposes your IP, port, or domain.

  • NewFleet Automations (MAX)

create the same scheduled automation rule across several servers at once, each as its own independent copy.

  • NewConfig change history (MAX)

server.properties and plugin/mod config edits are now versioned, with a diff view and one-click revert.

  • NewWeekly health/activity digest email (MAX)

an opt-in weekly summary of each connected server's uptime and peak players.

  • FixedAn id-collision bug that could assign the same id to a scheduled command and an automation rule created in the same millisecond, most reproducible on fast storage.

  • ImprovedSettings now shows an error if saving an API key fails instead of appearing to succeed silently.
  • FixedLinux (Experimental): firewall rules on the Networking page now actually work, via ufw or firewalld with a system authorization prompt, instead of silently failing.
  • FixedLinux (Experimental): coalstack:// links (website "Connect this app", invite links) now work from the AppImage too, not just the .deb.
  • FixedLinux (Experimental): Forge/NeoForge server folders migrated from Windows now launch correctly instead of refusing to start.
  • FixedLinux (Experimental): UPnP port forwarding is more reliable on machines with more than one active network connection (Wi-Fi + Ethernet, a VPN, etc.).

  • NewMod compatibility checks in the Marketplace are now free on every tier.
  • ImprovedFree-tier Conduit sessions are longer

    2 hours before a 45-minute cooldown, up from 1 hour before a 1-hour cooldown.

  • ImprovedMarketplace redesigned

browsing and installing from Modrinth now opens in its own window instead of always sitting on the page, with a category switcher, a sort option, and more results shown by default.

  • FixedA few small animation and hover-state polish items on the Servers and Marketplace pages.

  • NewA show/hide toggle for your public IP on the All Servers page, masked by default (e.g.

**.***.**:25565) so it doesn't leak in a screenshot or screen share.

  • ImprovedCustom Domain page trimmed down further

naming and reachability options now live together in one card instead of two separate sections.

  • ImprovedRemoved the Server Health score card from the server Overview page.
  • ImprovedServer cards on the All Servers page are bigger, with more breathing room.
  • ImprovedButtons no longer scale down on press

the click feedback was reading as jittery rather than responsive.

  • FixedCPU usage reading near 0% almost constantly

the stats refresh was sampling the same instant twice per poll instead of measuring the gap since the last one, so there was barely any time window for `sysinfo` to measure usage across.

  • NewA command palette (Ctrl/Cmd+K) replaces the old always-visible search box

search every page, tab, and common action from one shortcut.

  • NewA single notification bell in the title bar, and one consistent toast style for save confirmations, updates, and connection status.
  • ImprovedRedesigned navigation

the sidebar is down to 7 plain-language pages (Server, Players, Content, World & Files, Networking, Backups, All Servers), each with its everyday tools up front and advanced ones tucked under a "More" menu. Nothing was removed and nothing moved behind a paywall - every feature is still there, just reorganized.

  • ImprovedStart/Stop, the server switcher, and a Restart/Snapshot menu now live in the title bar, so you can control the running server from any page instead of only from the Dashboard.
  • ImprovedThe setup wizard pre-fills the destination folder, tucks the RAM slider behind a "Change" option with a sensible default already picked, and describes each platform (Vanilla, Paper, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge) in plain language.
  • ImprovedServer Properties now opens with a plain-language "Common settings" section (difficulty, gamemode, PvP, and the rest) above the full raw property table.
  • FixedThe title bar's Start button could turn invisible on hover (white text on white).

  • NewHeadless mode

run Coalstack with no window via --headless (or COALSTACK_HEADLESS=1), for a Linux server/systemd deployment. Backgrounds servers, backups, and Conduit remote control keep working exactly as before; a new shutdown handler now stops running servers gracefully on Ctrl+C or systemctl stop instead of killing them outright.

  • NewCloud Backup

upload every backup to an S3-compatible bucket (AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, MinIO, Wasabi) as a real off-machine copy, alongside the existing local backups and secondary-directory copy. Configure it from a new button on the Backups page.

  • ImprovedThe Dashboard's Server card is now a dropdown

switch between servers in the active game right from there, with each option showing its platform icon and running/booting status and the current server's version next to its name.

  • ImprovedRust support is now clearly marked Experimental in the sidebar and on the game-select screen while it's still early, and the game-select cards show real artwork instead of placeholder icons.
  • ImprovedLight mode toned down (softer surfaces and text) and the console no longer looks jarringly black against a light background.
  • ImprovedConfig Generator and Plugin Generator are now available on PRO (previously required MAX by mistake).
  • FixedSwitching servers on the Dashboard could leave the console showing the previous server's output, or go blank instead of the new server's actual log - it now always shows that server's real current console.
  • FixedSome detected server platforms (an undetected Bukkit-family or modded server) showed a "?" icon instead of a sensible fallback.
  • SecurityStrengthened license-tier enforcement across the app so paid features require an active subscription to use.

  • NewA Playtime (last 30 days) table and trend chart on the Players page

total playtime, session count, and last seen for every player.

  • FixedGeneral security hardening across the application and website.

  • FixedConduit no longer shows a server as online forever after stopping it locally

the app now reports the stop to the website immediately instead of waiting for the next relay tick.

  • FixedStopping or restarting a server remotely from the website's admin panel no longer triggers a false "possible crash" notification, Discord alert, or crash automation locally.

  • NewUploading a server icon now accepts any image format and opens a crop/zoom step (auto-resized to the required 64×64) instead of requiring a pre-cropped 64×64 PNG.
  • ImprovedA full visual and layout redesign: a darker grey palette that matches coalstack.net instead of pure black, sharp square corners everywhere (no rounded boxes, badges, or list rows), and real interaction feedback - instant press states, consistent transitions, and respect for reduced-motion.
  • ImprovedThe sidebar is reorganized into Server Control, Setup & Customize, Networking & Automation, Performance & AI Tools, and Moderation - matching the categories on the website's Features page instead of the old ad-hoc grouping.
  • ImprovedWhitelist & Bans is now a tab inside Players, and Custom Domain is now a tab inside Networking, instead of each being its own separate sidebar entry.
  • ImprovedSend Command now lives directly under the Console on the Dashboard instead of its own card further down the page.
  • FixedThe Marketplace no longer shows mods Modrinth flags as server-side unsupported (client-only mods like Sodium) in search or trending, since installing one would just crash the server on boot. Trending/search now also fetch more results so filtering those out doesn't leave the list looking sparse.

  • NewDocker container mode (MAX) is now available from the Dashboard's new Container Mode card - run Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, or Fabric servers inside Docker instead of a plain Java process.
  • NewWebhook notifications now support Slack and generic JSON endpoints, not just Discord - pick the format in Settings alongside the webhook URL.
  • NewAutomation rules can now be narrowed with a condition (player count, or a time window), a cooldown between fires, and a circuit breaker that auto-pauses a rule if it fires too often in an hour (MAX).
  • NewConsole commands can be saved as named, one-click macros from the Dashboard's Send Command card.

  • NewThe Auto Debugger and crash notifications now show a stable error code (e.g.

COAL-017) for every recognized crash pattern, with a full reference page on the website.

  • NewMod Compatibility now flags known client-only mods (Sodium, Iris, Rubidium, Oculus, and others) as incompatible on any server before you even start it, and recognizes mod-loader bridges (Connector, Sinytra Connector, Forgified Fabric API) so a Fabric mod isn't wrongly flagged broken on a Forge/NeoForge server running one.
  • FixedThe console could go dark right when a crash happened, missing the exact lines that explained why - it now grabs one final read of the log file (and a new backing buffer of the server's raw output) before giving up.
  • FixedA server crashing before its own log file even exists (e.g.

a client-only mod like Sodium installed on a NeoForge/Forge server) previously gave the Auto Debugger nothing to work with - it's now caught and explained directly.

  • NewServer Health Score on the Dashboard

a single 0-100 score from TPS, memory, CPU, error rate, and player churn, with a color-coded ring and a sub-score breakdown. Vanilla/Fabric servers (where TPS can't be measured) scale the remaining points to 100 instead of being unfairly penalized.

  • NewConfig Search tab in the Marketplace

search every plugin's YAML/TOML config files by key name, with results as you type and a click-through to the exact file.

  • NewAutomations: a "Send webhook" action (Discord, Zapier, custom bots

HTTPS-only, private IPs rejected), per-rule conditions (player count, CPU/memory/TPS thresholds, time-of-day windows), a cooldown so a rule can't re-fire too soon, and a circuit breaker that auto-pauses a rule if it fires too often in an hour.

  • NewPlugin Update Scanner in the Marketplace

scans plugins/mods against Modrinth for newer versions and updates them in place, backing up the old jar first.

  • NewA Permissions page that detects LuckPerms and embeds its own web editor in-app, the same way the Live Map does for Dynmap/BlueMap.
  • NewShareable Invite Links

generate a coalstack.net/i/<code> link that shows your server's address and lets a friend request whitelist access, right from the new Invites page.

  • NewA "Conduit Connection" toggle in Settings → Server

turns off all communication between this server and the website (no status reports, no remote commands) while keeping it fully usable locally. On by default, so nothing changes unless you turn it off.

  • ImprovedScheduled Restarts and Scheduled Commands moved from the Dashboard to the Automations page, as their own sections separate from the IF/THEN rules.
  • ImprovedAudited tier gating across the app and pricing page and fixed several mismatches (e.g.

automated backups, restart actions, and the mod/modpack installer split were gated differently than what the website advertised).

  • NewA "Forget Server" button (with confirmation) directly on each server's card on the Servers page, not just in Settings.
  • ImprovedThe command-relay poll (what the website's Start/Stop/Restart buttons and live sync wait on) now runs every 5s instead of 10s.
  • ImprovedCrash notifications and the in-app error screen now point to [email protected].
  • FixedThe website's Restart button on a server's page cleared its "Restart requested…" state almost instantly instead of waiting for the restart to actually finish, since the condition it checked for was already true the moment you clicked.
  • FixedThe website's Start/Stop/Restart buttons could get stuck disabled forever with no explanation if Coalstack wasn't open (or this server wasn't selected) to pick up the command - now times out after 60s with an explicit message.
  • FixedForgetting the currently-active server from its card on the Servers page left the app still pointed at it instead of clearing the selection, like Settings' forget flow already did.

  • ImprovedModern Forge/NeoForge server detection now searches a few directory levels deep for its launch file instead of assuming an exact fixed path, so a future installer layout change doesn't silently break Start again.
  • FixedA NeoForge/Forge server on a Minecraft version needing a newer Java than 21 (e.g.

NeoForge on 1.26.2, which needs Java 25) would silently die on startup - no log file, no error, no crash report - because Coalstack's Minecraft-version-to-Java-version table had no upper bound and kept confidently answering "21" past the versions it actually knew about.

  • FixedMarketplace searches could come back empty on a NeoForge server whose Minecraft version doesn't use the classic "1.x" numbering (e.g.

1.26.2) - the detected version was being re-derived from the loader's own version number instead of read from the real Minecraft version already sitting on disk.

  • FixedA server crash fast enough to happen before the very next status poll (an instant startup failure, for example) produced no crash notification at all - the BOOTING UP pill just quietly cleared.

  • NewThe website's Servers page now shows CPU/RAM/TPS, mod loader, version, copy-pasteable IP/domain, and an online player list (avatars included) for each synced server, not just online/offline and a player count.
  • NewA Console tab on the website's Servers page (MAX) showing a rolling buffer of recent console output, plus a free Chat Log alternative filtered to just chat/joins/leaves/deaths - both fed by the same ~10s command-relay report, so it's batched, not truly live.
  • ImprovedThe command-relay status report (what keeps the website's Servers page in sync) now sends that same data - player names and new console lines, not just counts - on its existing ~10s poll. No new background activity, just more in the same request.

  • NewLive TPS History chart on the Performance page (Paper/Spigot/Purpur/Forge/NeoForge - queried over RCON, same 10s sampling as CPU/RAM).
  • NewA "Browse" button on each backup, showing its world/dimension breakdown (size, file count) compared against the current live world, before you commit to restoring it.
  • NewServer creation templates (Blank, Survival/SMP, Hardcore, Creative Build)

pre-set gamemode, difficulty, and PVP when creating a new server from scratch.

  • FixedA stray em dash left in a couple of UI strings and code comments.

  • ImprovedInstall buttons across the Marketplace (Mods, Plugins, Resource Packs, Data Packs) now read "Done!" instead of "Installed" once finished.
  • Improved"View Versions" is now an outline button (matching the app's other outline buttons) and sits before Install instead of after it.
  • ImprovedThe "Automatically filtering for..." message now shows directly on the Marketplace tab instead of being tucked inside the version panel.
  • ImprovedThe version panel's entries are bigger and less cluttered, with downloads/date moved out of the tag row into a plain secondary line.
  • ImprovedThe mod details modal and version panel are both noticeably bigger, especially the details modal's height.
  • FixedInstalling a specific version from the Marketplace's version panel gave no feedback at all - the only progress message rendered behind the panel where it was never visible. Each version row now shows its own Install / Installing... / Done! state.

  • NewServers page

every known server as a card (status, address, CPU/RAM, players) plus a Global Performance summary. It's now the app's home screen; open a server's Dashboard from its card.

  • NewMarketplace

Mods, Plugins, Resource Packs, and Data Packs in one tabbed page, each with a Trending list, bigger browsable cards, and a prompt to install a mod's required dependencies alongside it.

  • NewAn editable port on the Dashboard

changing it updates server.properties and moves an active UPnP/firewall forward automatically, with guidance if a custom domain needs a manual DNS update.

  • NewA red error flag on a Servers page card when an error or crash was logged for that server.
  • NewA website Documents page explaining how Coalstack works.
  • NewPerformance page's CPU/Memory History cards now have their own Live/1H/6H/24H buttons, backed by a real persisted 24h history (not just the in-memory live buffer) - hover any chart to see the exact date, time, and value at that point.
  • ImprovedSettings reorganized into topic tabs (AI Provider, Console, Notifications, Advanced, Server) with a calmer, less boxed-in layout, instead of one long page.
  • ImprovedLicense activation/removal moved from Settings to the Account page.
  • ImprovedThe title bar now shows the active server's name and a live status pill on every page.
  • ImprovedAuto Debugger moved to the Free tier

it's a fixed pattern scan, not an AI call, so there was no reason to gate it.

  • ImprovedNetworking, Backups, Automations, and Custom Domain pages widened and decluttered, with clearer button hierarchy and less visual noise.
  • ImprovedNotifications' filter row now uses the same compact tab style as Settings/Marketplace instead of a row of buttons.
  • FixedLong setting descriptions in Settings are now tucked behind a "?" hint instead of always being shown inline.
  • Fixed(Hotfix) Stopping a server from the Servers page, or via an automation's "stop server" action, could incorrectly show a "possible crash" notification - only the Dashboard's Stop button was telling the crash detector the stop was intentional.
  • Fixed(Hotfix) The "+ New Server" tile's icon rendered above its label instead of beside it.
  • Fixed(Hotfix) The Marketplace's mod/plugin details modal was cramped

    it's noticeably wider now.

  • NewAutomations

visual IF/THEN rules per server (e.g. give a new player a starter kit, or stop and back up the server once it's sat empty for a while), editable in place with directly-editable commands.

  • NewA "Hide RCON Client messages" console setting (on by default) so Coalstack's own RCON traffic doesn't flood the console.
  • NewA manual version override on the Overview page for servers Coalstack can't auto-detect a version for.
  • NewA restart-required prompt on Performance page settings that only take effect after the server restarts.
  • ImprovedPlain "ERROR" log lines no longer trigger crash-style notifications on Fabric/Forge/NeoForge servers, where they're mostly noise from mod stack traces.
  • FixedCPU/memory usage always reading ~0%

some Java installs relaunch into a separate child process that Coalstack wasn't tracking; it now follows the process tree to the real one.

  • FixedVanilla server versions showing blank even after the server had been launched.
  • FixedA failed automation or scheduled command (e.g.

a bad /give) looked identical to a working one - the server's real response now shows up in Notifications.

  • Fixed"Booting up" could get stuck forever on very old or heavily modded servers whose startup log text didn't match - now also clears once the server port actually accepts a connection.
  • FixedJoin/leave tracking breaking on servers with a non-standard log format.
  • FixedCheckboxes and a few leftover green accents not matching the app's white/black theme.

  • NewRemote server control from the website

start, stop, restart, send console commands, kick, and ban from any device you're logged into, even while the server runs on your own PC.

  • NewA live status badge on the website's Servers page (online/offline, player count) that updates instantly.
  • NewA real admin activity log on the website, recording every remote command and every permission change.
  • NewA Security page on the website

change password, two-factor auth, and a "Log Out All Devices" control.

  • ImprovedThe website's Account page is now just Profile settings; two-factor auth moved to the new Security page.
  • ImprovedThe website Dashboard has clearer spacing and dividers between sections, plus a new Servers shortcut card.
  • FixedA server with no invited admins never appeared on the website at all, even for its own owner - it now registers itself automatically.

  • NewTwo-factor authentication for Coalstack accounts, enforced on every login path including the desktop app's.
  • NewOne-click server creation from a Modrinth modpack, not just individual mods.
  • NewAdmin roles (Viewer/Moderator/Co-Owner) with bulk apply across multiple admins at once.
  • NewA Security tab covering account, secrets, and console-access status, plus a Moderation section with its own Admin and Admin Log tabs.
  • ImprovedServer console commands now go over RCON instead of stdin, so they keep working even after reattaching to an already-running server.
  • ImprovedCustom domains now support connecting with just the domain (no port) once an SRV record is set up.

  • NewA "Check compatibility" button on the Mods page, and a Settings toggle to bring back automatic checking.
  • NewAn optional custom domain per server (Advanced page)

shown and copied instead of the raw IP:port once set.

  • ImprovedMod compatibility checks are now off by default.
  • ImprovedThe license key on the Settings page is now hidden behind a show/hide toggle instead of shown in plain text.
  • FixedWindows install showing a generic "Published by kylea" name instead of Coalstack.
  • FixedDownload progress jumping straight from 0% to 100% instead of updating continuously.
  • FixedThe app feeling frozen while checking mod compatibility on a large mods folder

    now shows live progress.

  • FixedMods with no declared Minecraft version (e.g.

Distant Horizons) wrongly marked "Unknown" - the version is now inferred from the filename when possible.

  • FixedMods whose own version number coincidentally looks like a Minecraft version (e.g.

Fabric Language Kotlin) wrongly marked incompatible.

  • FixedA console window flashing open during Forge/NeoForge server installs.
